please do not hesitate to contact us.

  • What areas of disabilities does MLOT specialise in?
At MLOT we work with people who have complex Psychosocial Disability. Laura and Megan are both experienced Mental Health Clinicians and have a sound knowledge as Occupational Therapists of how mental illness impacts function and occupation. We regularly see participants with a variety of major mental health diagnoses (e.g. Schizophrenia, Schizoaffective Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Personality Disorders, Depression, Anxiety Disorders, Obsessive-Compulsive and Related Disorders, Trauma-Related Disorders, Sensory Processing Disorders, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability, Brain Injury and Substance Use Disorders.
  • Do you prescribe and complete Assistive Technology assessments?
MLOT does not prescribe wheelchairs or assistive technology requiring the NDIS Assistive Technology report. We can make recommendations about simple assistive technology to increase independence in your home based on your needs. We can support you to link in with an Occupational Therapist who can meet the needs that we cannot.
  • Will you work with other service providers to support me?
With your consent we love to link in and work collaboratively with your existing informal and formal supports.
  • How can I refer?
Referrals can be made by clicking on the referral tab and providing your information to begin the intake process. You can also download the referral form and email it back to admin@meaningfullifeot.com.au We accept self-referrals or referrals made on your behalf by family. If you have a Support Coordinator or Recovery Support Coach, please have them complete them the referral so we can work alongside your existing supports.
  • How long is your wait list?
We always have a wait list due to the need for Occupational Therapists to work with NDIS Participants. We choose to specialise in Psychosocial Disability as it is our interest and what we do best. Therefore, if we are not the right fit for you, we will do our best to let you know other options we are aware of. We do our best to prioritise each participants need, though we are not able to respond to crisis situations.
  • Can we do telehealth/zoom sessions?
Yes, though we prefer to conduct appointments face-to-face at your home but we understand this is not always possible. We can provide our sessions via Zoom, or over the phone. Zoom and phone sessions are charged at the same hourly rate, plus additional for planning and note recording. Travel time is not charged as not applicable. In response to the Covid-19 pandemic it is important that we can be flexible with the delivery of our service.
  • Is MLOT an NDIS Registered Business?
No, we are not. We are only able to see NDIS participants who have their Capacity Building funds plan or self-managed. We are not able to provide services to participants who have their plans NDIA managed.
  • Can somebody attend my sessions with me, so I feel more comfortable?
Absolutely, if you are feeling nervous or worried about taking in information or meeting someone new it can be great to have a support person (family member or a support worker) attend your appointment/s with you. This way you can discuss your goals between sessions and even practice tasks and strategies with that person to help you build your skills and achieve your goals
